March is here and with March comes St. Patrick’s Day and March Madness.  It seems like the perfect month to explore Norwalk and find the best places to grab a beer.  Whether you are looking for an authentic St. Patty’s celebration or a spot to cheer on your favorite college basketball team, your neighborhood has some great options.

Get in the St. Patty’s spirit at O’Neill’s Pub and Restaurant. Experience the South of Ireland in your hometown! Taking cues from famous pubs in Dublin, O’Neill’s is ideal for a perfect Guinness pour or a long conversation over a glass of whiskey. Come for a drink and stay for a juicy burger, shepherd’s pie or corned beef sandwich. O’Neill’s honor the Irish everyday, but on St. Patrick’s Day they are hosting a party like no other with bagpipes, Irish Dancers, live music and an Irish buffet all day.

Another place celebrating the Irish is Donovan’s, the oldest known pub in Norwalk, established in 1889. They are known for their hefty half pound Burgers and Parri Ball’s award-winning New England Clam Chowder. It’s a really fun place to watch a football game and take advantage of the wings and drinks special all year, but on St. Patrick’s day they take it up a notch.  They offer a special menu in St. Patty’s honor and make it super festive.

If you are ever looking to watch a game over great food and a craft beer, walk around the corner to Tavern on 7.  They have 9 big screen tv and a really chill, and welcoming atmosphere. Enjoy staples like burgers and wings, but if you’re feeling a little fancy, they make a mean veal shank and braised short ribs.  They are family friendly, so one night you can enjoy beers with your friends or another night burgers with your family!

The Blind Rhino is another Norwalk spot to grab a beer and get into March Madness.  This award-winning sports bar has amazing wings and the trophies to show for it! Throughout the year they have a Monday Night Dart League and Tuesday Night Trivia, but they really step it up for March Madness and St. Patty’s Day!  Spend March enjoying a beer, some wings, and basketball at The Blind Rhino, voted Best Sports Bar in Fairfield County three years in a row.

If you pride yourself on being a beer aficionado or you just want to discover a new beer, check out Local Kitchen & Beer Bar.  With over 30 craft beers on tap, you are sure to get a unique experience. With great food and a great atmosphere, Local Kitchen & Beer Bar is another place to enjoy a beer in Norwalk.

If you are looking to grab a beer, The Curb’s neighborhood is really chock full of options. From Irish pubs like O’Neill’s and Donavan’s, to sports bars like Tavern on 7 or The Blind Rhino or craft beer bars like Local, you really have anything you need, a few minutes away from your apartment.
